Equipment:
- Pat of butter
- Brown paper
- Water
- Different food samples
Method:
- Label the brown paper with the food sample applied.
- Rub water on the brown paper that is labelled ‘water’.
- Rub pat of butter on the brown paper labellled ‘butter’.
- Test the remaining food samples for lipids using the same method.
- Allow for the paper to dry before recording the results.
Results:
Butter produces a positive result as the spot of brown paper becomes translucent and light can shine through.
Water produces a negative result as the spot of brown paper remains opaque.
Record results of other foods tested.
