Pick one topic from (i) and (ii)

(i)

  • Singing or playing individually
  • Singing or playing as part of a group
  • Rehearsing and conducting a musical group

(ii)

  • Sight reading test
  • Aural memory test
  • Singing or playing and improvisation

Requirements

Ordinary- Two prepared musical pieces and one unprepared test.

Higher – Three prepared musical pieces and one unprepared test.

*Higher only* If a student chooses to take their elective topic in practical/performance, they must demonstrate their knowledge by performing for a duration of 10-12 minutes.

Music can be chosen from the following

  • Classical music- individual, performing
  • Traditional Irish – individual, performing
  • Popular music- individual, performing
  • Extracts from musicals and operettas
